Every Tales of Eternia minigame and where to find it: the Rasheans river race, Craymel Ball, Chamballoon, the stone game and the cooking contest.
Tales of Eternia Minigames Guide: Every Game and Where It Is
The minigame board has twelve entries, and five of them own a Steam achievement in the Remastered release: the raft race at the Rasheans river pier, Chamballoon in Chambard, the speed-eating contest against Kong the Man, and the two Craymel Express runs. Craymel Ball is not a location. It is played in Mintche, the academic town in Inferia, so any list that gives Craymel Ball a location of its own beside Mintche is double-counting one stop. Locations, payouts and titles below are original-release data from the 2000 PlayStation game and its 2005 PSP port, because Bandai Namco has published no minigame list for the remaster.
- Five minigames carry an achievement. Everything else on the board pays a title at best.
- Craymel Ball and Mintche are one entry, not two.
- The remaster adds a skip function and a mid-game retry to minigames, so a failed attempt costs seconds instead of a walk back to the counter.
Every Minigame at a Glance
The roster is the original release's, because that is the only complete minigame list this game has ever had. Read the location column as the map and the reward column as what the Remastered achievement list confirms on top of the old titles.
| Minigame | Where | Objective | Reward that matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raft race (rafting) | Rasheans river pier, Inferia | Ride the river down, picking up gels on the way | Apple Gels on repeat runs, Master Coxswain title and achievement |
| Craymel Ball | Mintche, Inferia | Dodge the huge ball and knock it into your opponent | Pro Roller title on disc 1, Master Roller on discs 2 and 3, for Reid |
| Stone-piles | Barole, Inferia | Take stones off a pile, where taking the last one loses | Mathematician title for Reid, Melange Gel |
| Chamballoon | Chambard, Inferia | Pop every balloon inside the time limit | King of Balloons title and achievement |
| Cooking contest | Chambard, Inferia | Cook a meal from the ingredients you are handed | 3-Star Chef, Kitchen Star and Warrior Chef titles for Farah |
| Craymel Express, letters | Imen Station, Celestia | Slow down in time to deliver the mail | Choo-Choo Girl title for Meredy, and an achievement |
| Craymel Express, bombs | Luishka Station, Celestia | Blow up the carts chasing you | Nothing in the original; achievement only |
| WHIS | Mine of Gnome and the Jini casino | Card game against the house | WHIS Master or Hustler title for Reid |
| Race around Celestia | Peruti docks, Celestia | Hit the checkpoints on the world map | First Officer title for Chat |
| Carousel Sushi | Tinnsia, Celestia | Eat as many expensive plates as you can | King of Hunger title for Reid |
| Ocean Wars | Shizel Castle and the Van Eltia games room | Sink the other ships with the Craymel Cannon | Nothing |
| Dancing | Jini dance hall, Celestia | Stay inside the spotlight through the song | Dance Queen for Meredy, Star Dancer for Reid |
The remaster's change list and its Steam achievement list are the only sources that describe this release directly. Course layouts, timings, payouts, title names and judge behaviour come from PlayStation-era documentation for the 2000 game and its PSP port. They explain how the mechanics work, but they are not verified remaster measurements.

The Rasheans River Race
The race starts at the pier in Rasheans, the village the story opens in: get down the river and collect gels on the way. The acceleration button is the whole skill ceiling, and the original guide's rule is to use it only on the wide straights, because anywhere else you mostly crash.
The payouts split by attempt, which is the part worth knowing. From the second clear onward, the race pays one Apple Gel for every four gels you collect, making it the most reliable repeatable gel source in early Inferia.
The original release asked for a time under 1 minute 6 seconds for Reid's Master Coxwain title. The Remastered achievement only refers to a record time and publishes no target of its own, so 1:06 is the old benchmark rather than a confirmed cutoff.
Craymel Ball Is Played at Mintche
Craymel Ball and Mintche are one entry, not two. The game is played inside Mintche, the academic town built around the university, and it appears as two separate items only in lists that mix a game with its own venue.
The mechanic is a two-colour ball game. Your character and the ball each carry a colour, like colours repel and opposite colours attract, so the reliable way to score is to stand on the opposite side of the ball from your opponent and push it toward them. Crystals switch your own colour while the ball's colour shifts over time, which turns a pushing contest into a fight over position. The original release paid Reid's Pro Roller title on disc 1 and Master Roller on discs 2 and 3, and there is no Craymel Ball achievement, so this is a title-only chase.
Three remaster notes change the game around it. The official change list confirms that dungeon gimmicks and minigames which required colour identification in the original were subtly redesigned so they can be read without relying on colour, which is the one entry on that list that plausibly touches Craymel Ball. The same list states that the questions for the Tales quiz in the academic town were completely revamped, so an answer sheet from the PlayStation or PSP version is worthless. The official English change list spells the town Mintz while PlayStation-era guides spell it Mintche; both refer to the same place.

Chamballoon in Chambard
Chamballoon is the balloon game in Chambard, and it is the minigame achievement most players already have: King of Balloons sits at 2.3 percent globally as of October 17, 2026, against 1.4 percent for Master Coxswain. Balloon popping has no timing gate, which is the usual reason a minigame clear fails, so start here when you are ticking the list off.
The original tactic still describes what you will be doing: slash as fast as you can and do not stop. Placement changes between challenges, so there is no route to memorise, and wide-hitting artes are the recommendation, with Tempest Strike named as a good fit. If your loadout is thin at that point in the story, the artes and combos guide covers cheaper multi-hit options.
The Stone Game at Barole
Barole's stone game is the arithmetic one: players take stones off a pile, and whoever takes the last stone loses. The original documentation gives a rule rather than a trick, and it is short enough to memorise. If after your move every remaining pile is a multiple of four, you are guaranteed to win; otherwise you are guaranteed to lose. The clear pays Reid's Mathematician title and a Melange Gel, and the title counts toward the ten-title achievements.
The Cooking Contest in Chambard
The contest hands you a set of ingredients and asks for a specific dish. Level the recipe you are asked to cook to at least 4 first, then read the judge's wording, because a phrase such as zesty is a hint at the extra ingredient rather than flavour text. Farah's three cooking titles, 3-Star Chef, Kitchen Star and Warrior Chef, all come out of this single contest, which makes it the densest source of titles on the board. Ingredients and recipe levels are on the recipes and cooking guide.
Cooking is remembered as a Farah system, but the contest judges the dish. Confirm who is assigned and that their recipe is levelled before you start, because a failed judged cook costs ingredients rather than time.
The Rest of the Board
Seven entries remain, and they matter mostly for titles. What the original documentation adds beyond the table above is one tactic each.
| Minigame | Tactic worth knowing | Why you would bother |
|---|---|---|
| Craymel Express, letters | Add one notch of braking halfway down, another when Meredy shouts, then brake fully as you arrive | Choo-Choo Girl title for Meredy, and an achievement |
| Craymel Express, bombs | Throw the bomb at the count of six, as soon as the enemy's first cart is fully on screen | Achievement only in this release |
| WHIS | Pure luck against the house; there is no line of play that beats it | Win with over 1000 points in Jini for WHIS Master, under 1000 for Hustler, both for Reid |
| Race around Celestia | The checkpoint order is not shown in game; the original guide keeps it on its sidequest pages | First Officer title for Chat |
| Carousel Sushi | Take the yellow-outlined plates and drink once your speed bar falls past half red | King of Hunger title for Reid |
| Ocean Wars | Charge the Craymel Cannon the moment a ship appears on the radar, then fire when it is directly in front, since the action pauses while you fire | Nothing but the diversion |
| Dancing | Stay as close to the centre of the spotlight as you can, and expect to need two or three runs to learn the lighting pattern | Dance Queen for Meredy at over 8.00 points |
One entry needs a remaster caveat. The original ties Reid's Star Dancer title to clearing the dance over 8.00 points in two-player mode, and this release is single-player only, which the Steam listing confirms by carrying no co-op or multiplayer category. Star Dancer is therefore the one title on the old list you should not assume you can still earn the old way. The Celestia checkpoint order and the events that close off minigame titles are collected on the sidequests and missables page.
What the Remaster Changes About Minigames
Four entries on the official change list touch minigames directly.
| Change | What it does |
|---|---|
| Skip function | Lets you skip a minigame outright |
| Mid-game retry | Restarts a minigame mid-play, without walking back to the counter |
| Subtitles for some minigames | Adds on-screen subtitles to the screens of selected minigames |
| Colour vision support | Redesigns the colour-identification gimmicks so they can be read without colour |
Skipping has a cost the list does not spell out: a skipped minigame awards neither its title nor its achievement, so if you are chasing King of Balloons or Master Coxswain, the skip is a convenience you have to consciously decline. Mid-game retry is the opposite case. The original's real penalty for a botched run was replaying the approach before another attempt, and removing that penalty is what makes the six-second margin on the river race far less intimidating.

Minigame Achievements and Their Rarity
| Achievement | Where it comes from | Global unlock |
|---|---|---|
| King of Balloons | Chamballoon in Chambard | 2.3% |
| Master Coxswain | Rasheans river race | 1.4% |
| Speed-Eating Champion | Speed-eating contest against Kong the Man | 0.9% |
| Choo-Choo Girl | Craymel Express letter delivery at Imen Station | 0.7% |
| Train Bombardier | Craymel Express bombing run at Luishka Station | 0.7% |
Two caveats on reading that table. The official achievements page lists 50 achievements and shows 27 of them without signing in, so the visible slice rotates and these percentages move daily; the top three rates were read on October 17, 2026, the two Craymel Express ones during launch week. And Speed-Eating Champion is not Carousel Sushi. It is a separate contest against Kong the Man, and neither the original guide nor the change list gives its location, which makes it the one minigame achievement with no documented place to go and play it. The achievements and trophies guide puts these five into a rarity-ordered route.

FAQ
Where is Craymel Ball in Tales of Eternia Remastered? In Mintche, the academic town in Inferia. Craymel Ball is the game and Mintche is the venue, and there is no separate Craymel Ball location anywhere in the world.
Can I skip minigames in Tales of Eternia Remastered? Yes. The official change list confirms both a skip function and a retry that restarts a minigame mid-play. Skipping gives up the title and the achievement attached to that game, so it is a convenience rather than a shortcut to the reward.
What is the target time for Master Coxswain? The original 2000 PlayStation release asked for under 1 minute 6 seconds on the Rasheans river race, and that figure comes from PlayStation-era documentation. Bandai Namco has published no target for the remaster, so treat 1:06 as the old benchmark.
Do minigame titles carry into a second playthrough? Not at launch: the transfer list covers character information, learned techniques and skills, items, Lens availability, cooking recipes, commands and both encyclopedias, with titles explicitly excluded. The day-one v.2.0.0 patch then added titles to the carryover, so they do transfer on the current build. The new game plus guide breaks down the rest of the list.
